Californios, 2022

24” x 36”, Acrylic on Canvas

Starting in the early 1700s, Californios roamed the desert plains of what we now call Southern California. These Spanish and Mexican men were the predecessor to modern-day cowboys, and native to Alta California. Though their history is tainted with violence, the cultural influence is still prevalent today.
